DENNIS WALKER SHICK
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis on March 23, 2026.
He will be sadly missed by his partner Anna; his son Kyle (Rebecca); three beautiful granddaughters, Ella, Scarlett, and Florence, Nick (Anthea); and sister Noreen Drosdowech (Mel); as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Hilda Shick, his brother Clayton and his wife Betty.
Dennis was born in Brandon, MB and grew up in Dauphin, MB. He was an entrepreneur from the get-go working at the movie theatre and the clothing store. He would chuckle and say he spent most of his paycheck on clothes. He worked at The Manitoba Highways Dept., I.D. Engineering and in 1975 started Pourex Limited, partnering with Ernst Hansch and George Ferris. He was very proud of being a Civil Engineer and was well respected in the construction industry.
Dennis loved most sports, but golf was his passion. He enjoyed many golf trips with his buddies Wilf, Dave and Derek. The last 18 years he has spent his winters in the Palm Springs area enjoying the weather and many golf games with his friends. With that little smirk of a smile he would say "hit them long and straight".
Dennis was a man of quiet strength, strong integrity and had a gentle, caring disposition.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care and compassion Dennis received at GH7 and WRS2 Health Sciences Centre as well as the palliative care team at HSC.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Special Olympics Manitoba in honour of his generous spirit.
Cremation has taken place. His Celebration of Life will be held at Breezy Bend Golf & Country Club, 7620 Roblin Blvd., Headingley, MB on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
